Buddharupa going to the Ground Floor

8th September... a mission fulfilled for PHBS.

Shifting the  main Buddharupa....
After much contemplation, the committee of PHBS has finally decided to shift it down.

It ain't heavy... .... IT is the BUDDHA. Volunteers weaving through the narrow staircase, step by step, the men and boys are very careful and mindful

Successfully brought down and coming to the Main door of the newly-renovated shrine hall...

The strong men working hard  to put the Buddharupa in position.

The Buddharupa in position at the shrine hall. Taking a closer look ...
 so serene, calm and inspiring...

Expansion and Renovation

Expansion for PHBS centre is currently in progress.

PHBS has decided to rent the premises next door due to space constraints in carrying out the weekly activities. On the same note, the committee thinks that it will be more accessible to people , in particular, the elderly if the shrine hall were to move to the ground floor, so here we are... folks.

Renovation is in progress and right now it is at the last stage and with the cleaning up done, hopefully, we will hold the consecretion on the 8th Sept at 9 am.
WE hope all members and non members as well, if you care to come. All are welcome to witness this milestone of PHBS.

The successfully renovated shrine hall.
A big Saddhu to all well-wishers and donors  who contributed in cash or in kind.
May all the merits accrued help us in our practice in attaining the ultimate bliss of Nibbana.

The Gift of Truth Excels All Gifts.

PHBS Pindacara/Dana

 25th August 2013,
Pindacara/Dana for the Mahsangha

PHBS has invited monks, purportly from the Order of Monks  of Kuchai Lama and Subang 2 centre, for devotees to partake in this meritorious occasion.
This being the 7th month of the chinese calendar, henceforth the transference and sharing of merits will be truly meaningful to all of us. Sharing of merits with those who are in need due to personal difficulties, challenges or sickness. For our departed loved ones, relatives and friends may they rejoice in our merits and for those in the lower realms of existence our merits may help  to relieve their sufferings.

A Big Saddhu To All who have participated  in this meaningful action.

By this May All Be Well and Happy.
May All the Devas and Nagas Blessed the people of Putra Heights. May all untoward incidences be warded off.
May there be Peace and Happiness
in this special place that we call HOME.

MAY THE TRIPLE GEM PROTECT AND GUIDE US ALWAYS.

Dhamma Sharing/Talk

July 28 and August 19, 2013
Dhamma Sharing with Brother Ngeow

WHY AM I A BUDDHIST??

As  usual  the weekly Dhamma sharing is as scheduled. It was actually a sequel to the last Dhamma Sharing by Brother Ngeow, on August 28. I must admit that I have slacked and did not update any post on this. For the main reason I was completely saddened by the fact that my SD card was corrupted and i was not able to update any photos. :((
Well to refresh, the last sharing was all about  "Why am I Buddhist?"

The speaker was rather serious when he kickstarted this. It required lots of reflection and comtemplation to be able to come to an answer..on the many WHYs. On that particular session, he shared with us his quest and seeking for the truth until  he comes to an agreeement with himself ... that is BUDDHISM.
For  seeking externally, it is more of experiential  and with a little wisdom one will be able to see and feel the beauty of this TRUTH. (Ehipassiko)
 So much about last sharing.

Today, Brother Ngeow shared on inward seeking. This is rather important.
When one is able to understand the mind and  most of all the Dhamma, all the WHYs will be answered. So now, it is all about practice. Practice,  practice and more practice.. so that we will be able to achieve peace and happiness ( our ultimate objective in this  mundane world). In practising we must overcome sloth and torpor. Motivation must be intrinsic.
In his sharing, he thinks one should hold on to the belief that our future must be better than the present. For that to happen the present moment is most crucial. So reflect, reflect ...on our action ... here and now...

Loss and gain, obscurity and fame,
Praise and blame, happiness and pain,
These things are transcient in the life of man,
Inconstant and are bound to change

..... hopefully with little dust in our eyes..... we will be able to see the Dhamma

May All Be Well and Happy Always.

DANA for Month of July

July Dana with Ven. Rakhita

Sunday 7th July 2013, PHBS got the honour of inviting Ven Rakhita to our centre.
Bhante's arrival was truly a welcome for PHBS members  because we have heard of Ven Rakhita but have never seen Bhante in person.
Bhante started off with a short Dhamma talk, simple and easy to understand. Guess Bhante must have used a 'Dhamma friendly software'.
The cycle of Rebirth was the topic and in Buddhism whhether one is a practitioner or not .. no escape everyone is subjected to it.
'For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction"

The highlight of course is the Dana. Members and non-members alike made their offerings happily. After all it is  all about happiness

May All Be Well and Happy Always.

One family of four has taken to offer robes to Bhante. A Big Saddhu to this family for partaking in this great meritorious act .
Definitely, this is good opportunity to share and transfer merits to all, in particular  for PHBS. Our society has been contemplating of expanding. Hopefully our aspiration will materialise, that is, we will be able to secure the next door premises.

May all Beings be well and Happy always.
May Bhante have a safe trip to Mynmar too.

PHBS Wesak Celebration 24 May 2013

Wesak Day is the auspicious day when we celebrate the birth of Lord Buddha, His attainment of Enlightenment and His
Passing into Mahaparinibbana.

PHBS celebrated the 4th Wesak Day at the rented premises.

The presence of the Sangha added elements of spirituality to the celebration.

... with this lamp shining brightly , with the Dhamma in my heart I, too endeavour to dispel the darkness...

Members and non-member volunteers worked hard to make it a success. Sponsors from various corporate bodies were greatly appreciated, too.

A Big SADDHU! to all members and volunteers who made this occasion a big Success.

May You All Be Well and Happy Always.

Turning Back the Clock to 12th May 2013

Sukhi Hotu to All..

Posting title- turning back the clock... so sorry for the long absence. But anyway back to 12th May,
Blessed us that the sharing was by  Bhante U Dhammananda. It was very well spoken. Bhante was very accomodative too, answering every question that devotees asked to the utmost.
The bottom line is practice and whatever benefits one can reap differ in experiencing it.

Personally i think if outside of the Dhamma hall and you hear post discussion, it means a lot of  absorption.
Bhante's approach has changed from previous session and of course he has impressed upon the listeners greatly.
From Puzzling to Amazing.... the Dhamma is Spoken.

The greatest achievement is selflessness.
The greatest worth is self-mastery.
The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
The greatest precept is continual awareness.
The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways.
The greatest magic is transmuting the passions.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
The greatest patience is humility.
The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.

(quotations from the Buddha) states:

"All things are preceded by the mind, led by the mind, created by the mind."
the first verse of theDhammapada
