Turning Back the Clock to 12th May 2013

Sukhi Hotu to All..

Posting title- turning back the clock... so sorry for the long absence. But anyway back to 12th May,
Blessed us that the sharing was by  Bhante U Dhammananda. It was very well spoken. Bhante was very accomodative too, answering every question that devotees asked to the utmost.
The bottom line is practice and whatever benefits one can reap differ in experiencing it.

Personally i think if outside of the Dhamma hall and you hear post discussion, it means a lot of  absorption.
Bhante's approach has changed from previous session and of course he has impressed upon the listeners greatly.
From Puzzling to Amazing.... the Dhamma is Spoken.

The greatest achievement is selflessness.
The greatest worth is self-mastery.
The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
The greatest precept is continual awareness.
The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways.
The greatest magic is transmuting the passions.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
The greatest patience is humility.
The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.

(quotations from the Buddha) states:

"All things are preceded by the mind, led by the mind, created by the mind."

Dhamma Sharing with Bhante U Dhammananda

April 21,Sunday.
It was a hot sunny day , no doubt, but the atmosphere in the centre was pretty cool. Why? Well, we had a COOL sharing with a cool monk, Bhante U Dhammananda..  With his sea of experiences on life as a layman and in monkhood, his sharing was pretty hilarious, nonetheless, it was enlightening. His approach in imparting the Dhamma was unlike others- very informal indeed.

It was Dana time and being  a very strict vegetarian he had a very simple meal.

Devotees and committee members were engrossed in the Q and A session.

  Sunday 7th April 2013 ,Pattidana

PHBS members and residents of Putra Heights are very lucky to be able to partake in this meritorious act of pattidana.
PHBS has invited Rev Rekitta , so that all devotees can perform the dana, henceforth trnsfer the merits all departed relatives and friends.  It is indeed a good time as we all know this is also the time of the time of the year when all chinese will do the the 'Ching Ming'.
The significance of this occasion is as buddhist, it is necessary to transfer merits to our departed relatives and friends by mindfully performing this good meritorious action.

Many thanks to devotees who come with delicious offerings for the monk.
We rejoice together.May all Beings be well and happy always.

Saddhu! Saddhu! Saddhu!

Farewell Venerable

Sukhi Hotu!

This Sunday marked another milestone for PHBS members and students of the SDS. We all bade farewell to Venerable Rou Ti, who would be leaving for Melbourne, Australia.
Venerable has been with PHBS for a while, helping out with the Sunday Dharma School and also actively helping out with our fund-raising activities. It is without doubt that the students and members do have some kind of attachment to Venerable. PHBS members, too, have benefitted from some of the discourses you have shared. We may be from different schools of thought but the destination is always the same.
It has been sad to see you leave, Venerable , but then again, as Buddha said "letting go' and impermanance' as the order of the day for Buddhist practitioners.
Anyway PHBS wishes you well and take care.
May you progress in your practice until you reach the ultimate bliss of Nirvana.

SADDHU! SADDHU! SADDHU!

PHBS Chinese New Year Celebration and Food Fair 2013

24th February 2013, an eventful day for PHBS members. The event was to celebrate Chinese New Year and a FOOD Fair. Proceeds of the Food Fair will go towards the temple building fund.

As a matter of fact, PHBS building will be officially launched once the Selangor State Government endorses our land application. Currently, our committee is following up on this matter very closely. There was a briefing with the Chief Minister of Selangor on 10th January 2013.

Members and volunteers worked very hard to make it a success. There were 26 stalls selling an array of delicacies. There  were other dried foodstuffs, groceries and also a Game station for the little kiddies. All in all, everyone had a whale of time. The Lion dance and God of Prosperity spruced up the celebration.

Gracing the occasion was assemblywoman, YB Theresa Kok.

Nevertheless the most commendable were the organising Committee, members ,volunteers and residents of Putra Heights. Thank you for your time and effort.

Well as time goes by,your neighbourhood buddhist fellowship, PHBS  now has a vision

** ...to have a buddhist temple in Putra Heights.**

For that we will need the support of all those concerned whether in terms of spiritual support, expertise, time/effort and of course material.

Saddhu! Saddhu! Saddhu!

A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.”

Dhamma Sharing with Venerable Balachitta

14 February 2013
Sukhi Hotu

PHBS welcomes Ven Balachitta, a malaysian monk trained at SBS Taiping.

Ven. will be putting up at PHBS for a few days.( until Saturday 16 Feb 2013) He will be sharing a lot of Dhamma with us. Hope Putra Heights devotees take this opportunity to listen to his sharing.
As Venerable has mentioned, listening to the Dhamma is one of the 10 meritorious actions. Needless to say, it generates a lot of positive energy and good kamma, more so, on such auspicious occasion as the Chinese New Year.
Venerable talked about the 10 wholesome actions that can be done by us.

Come and join us for this evening's talk at 8.30pm
For those who would like to perform Dana, please bring along your cooked food for offerings. As Bhante eats only ONE meal a day so Dana will be at 9.30 am.

February Dana 3rd Feb 2013

This month's Dana holds a special meaning for PHBS members and residents of Putra Heights. With Chinese New Year  just around the corner so instead of the normal offerings and sharing of merits we also did transference of merits to our departed relatives and friends.

Two monks from Sentul Temple were invited to our Dana. Bhante ,too, gave a short talk on the good of doing Dana. As a  Buddhist this is a good start of learning how to let go.
It was a short talk nevertheless it was truly an enlightening talk.

Hoping that we take a leaf from what was said by Bhante.
Practise and practise hard if we want to be on the path and fruition.

Saddhu! Saddhu! Saddhu!to those who had contributed in bringing your cooked food.

Again it is PHBS' aspiration that more will join in our activities for 2013.

A Happy and Blessed New Year to All.

On behalf of all the EXCO members we wish everyone

GONGXI FA CAI and have a safe journey home for those who are travelling to near or far to be with your beloved family.
